Tuition English

English tuition that reaches every other subject

If English is a struggle, every subject that needs reading and writing gets harder too. We find the gaps in reading, writing, spelling, punctuation and grammar, then fill them, in a group of no more than six.

English tuition at each stage

KS2 English

Years 4 to 6

Strong foundations in reading, comprehension, writing, spelling, punctuation, grammar and vocabulary. We find where your child needs more support and plan around it.

Lessons help with KS2 SATs and the move up to secondary school. In a small group there is plenty of room to ask questions, get help and learn from mistakes.

KS3 English

Years 7 to 9

Reading, comprehension and writing for different purposes and audiences, alongside spelling, punctuation, vocabulary and grammar.

Students learn to analyse a text, pick out evidence and explain their ideas, and they get immediate feedback. These are the skills GCSE English Language and Literature will ask for later.

GCSE English Language and Literature

Years 10 and 11

For Language: reading strategies, language and structure analysis, evaluation and comparison, and how to plan a strong answer for each question type. Lessons follow the exam board, because question styles and assessment objectives vary.

For Literature: a thorough understanding of the set texts, including characters, themes, context and writers’ methods, plus choosing, learning and analysing key quotations and writing a well-structured essay.

Specialist support for AQA and Eduqas English Language.

Find out where your child is in English

Your child comes in for an hour, meets their tutor and does some relaxed work so we can see where they are. No fees are due until after it, and you decide afterwards whether to carry on.
